25 cent gold - Part 1

Every now and then I buy a bunch of cds for 25 cents a pop at a local store. Here's one of those cds.

Lying in States - Most Every Night

I genuinely enjoy this one. This band pulls together a lot of influences to create a pretty unique sound. There is the occasional burst of math rock goodness in between catchy hooks and swaggering bass lines. I hear some Cursive, Modest Mouse, and maybe a little Jesus Lizard when the guitars take center stage. Their tone is great, with just enough crunch to get me awkwardly moving my limbs at all the right spots. When they slow down for the song "We" no goodness is lost. The song is beautiful and includes a fitting whistled melodic line.

This group broke up in 2006, but they released a second full length right before that break up. I'm gonna have to track it down if its even half as good as this one.

Check out the song posted below, you won't be dissapointed.
